The area surrounding the Port of Málaga is simply stunning. You arrive along Muelle Uno, a beautiful promenade with lots of nice lounges and restaurants, and an outdoor mall. Playa La Malagueta, the beach closest to the city center, is located next to the cruise port.

Málaga is often referred to as "little Barcelona", but not just because of the city beach, great attractions and good food. The old town, with countless small niche shops, as well as the main street and several modern shopping malls, make Málaga a perfect location for the shopaholics.

Did you know...

The most famous personality from Málaga is definitely Pablo Picasso. Born in the heart of the historic centre, Plaza de la Merced, October 25th, 1881. The museum Casa Natal de Picasso is located in what used to be his childhood home. A statue of Picasso sits on a bench in the middle of the square. A popular place to snap a picture with the artist.

Did you know...

Among the living Malagueños, the best known is probably Antonio Banderas. He spends a lot of time in Málaga, and is known for being proud of his hometown. He is a regular at the Málaga film festival and Semana Santa (the easter week), and as recently as 2019, he switched on the famous Christmas lights in the shopping street Calle Larios.

Málaga Club de Fútbol

The city's football pride were relegated from La Liga back in 2018, and further down from La Liga 2 in 2023. In the 2023/24 season Málaga competes in the third tier, Primera Federación.

The history of the club is quite interesting to say the least, with plenty of ups and downs.

The Spanish national team returns to La Rosaleda to play Nations League versus the Czech Republic on Sunday the 12th of June.

This will be the 10th time Spain visits Málaga to play an international match. The last time, in November 2017, Costa Rica was defeated by 5-0.
